Can’t believe it’s only 12 days ‘til bis head to London for our two gigs. Rehearsals have been going well in Glasgow, and the two new songs “there is no point (other than the point that there is no point)” and “boredom can be good for you” have almost been mastered thank goodness (I’m so bad at learning lyrics!). We have Graham C on drums and Stuart Memo on bass like we did for Primavera Festival after that sounded so decent, so quite a data Panik line-up you might say. One more 5 hour rehearsal next weekend, then it’s time to start packing my dresses.
These are my first bis gigs since the probs with my daft body. I had 4 serious eye operations in 2010/2011 (retinal detachments and cataract) leaving me not able to see well out my right eye. A large section to the right of that eye is also a total blind spot. This makes it harder to read my cheat sheets on my synth so I just have to learn things :) I’m going to angle my synth slightly so that John and Steven can be more in my line of vision. I would see much better out my working left eye if I was on the right hand side of the stage, but that just would just feel wrong.
Late 2011 I also had the worst Multiple Sclerosis relapse I’ve ever had where I couldn’t walk a single step. Extremely terrifying stuff, and fingers crossed I don’t get anything like that again in a hurry. MS is unpredictable and I never know what’s coming next. I’ve learned to adapt to things in life with my MS and just manage things the best way I can. I get very dizzy, so if I stumble or fall over, I’m not always drunk (well…sometimes).
So, apart from those 2 things I’m well and truly looking forward to this trip. Our friend’s band Ace City Racers is supporting each night and driving our gear to London for us - so we’re all going on the train! If you’re coming along, please watch and give them as much support as you can as it’s their first London gig. They recently recorded with Stephen Street so perhaps he’ll come along too.
We’ll have the new bis vampire t-shirts and badge sets on sale, and I’ll also be bringing some of my art prints .
So, that’s my thoughts for the moment - London, Glasgow and Wickerman Festival here we come!
